Three local prep basketball teams hit the hardwood on Friday night and all three came away victorious.

At Cosby High School in the annual Christmas Classic, the Lady Eagles picked up their 12th win of the 2012-13 season and knocked off Class AA Sequoyah High School in an impressive victory. The Lady Eagles fought back from an early third quarter deficit to hand Sequoyah a 71-60 loss.

Cosby was paced by Bethanie Williams and Tiffany Smelcer, who each scored 19 points in the win. Sequoyah fell to 10-4 overall with the loss.

The Eagles, who improved to 10-5 on the season, also won for the second consecutive night at the Christmas Classic, topping Sequoyah by a 65-52 score.

Cocke County High School's boys basketball team also earned an impressive victory, taking down Portland High School in the semifinal round of the Midway Christmas Classic in Roane County.

The Fighting Cocks evened their record back to the .500 mark at 7-7 on the season with the 64-40 win. CCHS will play the winner of Anderson County and Midway for the tournament championship on Saturday evening.
