KNOXVILLE-The Cocke County High School Lady Red will play for to defend their championship at the Kroger Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday night.

Cocke County, which defeated Union County on Tuesday, was able to race out to a 33-19 halftime advantage and then put forth a stellar defensive effort in the second half to topple tournament host Gibbs High School by a 65-30 score.

The Lady Red, who won the 2012 version of the tournanent, held Gibbsto only 11 points in the final two quarters as they ran away with the 35-point victory over the Class AA opponent.

Cocke County will take on Farragut, who defeated Seymour High School 43-41 earlier on Friday.

Tipoff from Gibbs High is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The road was not as joyful for the Fighting Cocks who dropped their Friday night semifinal game to Karns High School.

Karns High School took a slim halftime edge and turned into a 79-54 win over the Fighting Cocks.The Big Red will play in a 5:30 p.m. consolation game against the Powell-Seymour loser. A score on that game was unavailable at presstime.
