KNOXVILLE-The 2012-13 season got underway with a pair of road losses for Cocke County High School on Tuesday evening at Hardin Valley High School.

The Lady Red, in the debut of new coach Jeremy Byrd, dropped a 56-50 overtime decision to the Lady Hawks.

The Fighting Cocks dropped their season opener in a similiarly tight fashion at Hardin Valley.

The Hawks closed a tightly contested first half by taking a 34-33 at intermission, but was able to outscore the Fighting Cocks (0-1) by nine points in the second half to take a 60-50 victory.
