DANDRIDGE-With the clock winding down, the Dandridge Broncos grasscutters had time for one final play.

Unfortunately for the Newport Roosters, one play was all the Broncos needed.

Chase Proffitt got to the outside and sprinted 84 yards for a touchdown to give the Broncos a 25-20 victory in the EMFC Super Bowl on Saturday at Jefferson County High School.

Baylor Baxter had given the Roosters the lead on a one yard run with 5:40 left and the defense then forced a turnover on downs with just 2:37 left.

The Broncos had preserved enough timeouts to get the ball back though with under a minute, and punched in the score for the win.

The Broncos jumped out early in the first half and appeared as if they would cruise to an easy win.

Eli Briggs scored on a one yard quarterback sneak on a fourth and goal play, and Isaac Lawson tacked on the conversion run to give the Broncos a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Briggs did the same thing on the next drive to stretch things to 13-0 after the failed conversion with 2:47 left in the half.

Newport finally grabbed some momentum on a Baxter one yard run into the end zone with 1:44 left in the quarter to chip the lead to 13-7. Baxter added the conversion run.

The Roosters wasted no time tying things up in the third as Izaiah Hall scored from five yards out to tie things at 13-13 with 4:30 left in the quarter.

The Broncos answered at the end of the third on a 20 yard run from Briggs to push Dandridge back in front, 19-13.

Baxter gave the lead back to Newport on a one yard run and the conversion.

When the Broncos had their final chance though, they capitalized on the long run, ending what had
been a solid game and season for the Roosters.

Peewees fall to Broncos

A late interception returned for a touchdown sealed the 20-6 win for the Dandridge Broncos in the Peewees Super Bowl.

Kris Hawkins intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for the game clinching score.

The game was back and forth for almost the entire game though and a low scoring first half ended in
a 7-6 lead for the Broncos.

Dandridge struck first on a 78 yard punt return from Hawkins, and he added the conversion to put the Broncos up 7-0.

Carson Nichols punched one in for the roosters on a 75 yard run but the conversion failed, leaving Dandridge in front 7-6.

After a scoreless third, Tyler Ramey pushed the Broncos in for another score midway through the fourth quarter on a one yard quarterback sneak, extending the lead to 13-6.

The Roosters would have a chance on their next drive to tie things up, but Hawkins intercepted a
pass with 2:50 left and ran it back for a touchdown, all but ending any chance Newport had of a
comeback.
