NEWPORT-Cocke County and Cosby High School have never met on the gridiron before in an official game.
However that didn't stop an inaugural battle from occurring on Saturday night.
Under the coordination of national organization Alumni Football USA, former football players from each school battled it out against each other under the lights at Larry Williams Stadium on the campus of Cocke County High School.
The alumni from Cocke County High School were able to grab the victory in the game, scoring a 43-14 win. The Fighting Cocks alumni team was able to use a big first half, as they claimed a 25-6 lead at the intermission, en route to their 29-point margin of victory.
Alumni Football USA awarded a trophy to the Cocke County alumni team for winning the game. Also individual awards were presented from their play.
The night was a reunion of classmates and friends, as the game also featured alumni cheerleaders - who gave a halftime performance - and an alumni band.
In the inaugural alumni game, Alumni Football USA provided equipment and uniforms. For more information about Alumni Football USA, visit their website (www.alumnifootballusa.com).
