The opening night of Cocke Count Elementary Basketball Association action saw eight teams hit the hardwood on Thursday night to begin a new season of hoops action.
The opening night saw Northwest host Centerview, Bridgeport visit a newly christened gymnasium at Del Rio, Parrottsville playing at Grassy Fork and Cosby hosting Smoky Mountain.
Centerview 34, Northwest 31 (BOYS)
A fast-paced, quick style game between Centerview and Northwest went the way of the visitors on Thursday night.
Centerview outscored Northwest 8-3 over the span of the third quarter, which was enough cushion to help the Falcons take a 34-31 road win to start the year. The margin allowed the Falcons to increase their 20-16 halftime edge into a 28-19 lead after three quarters.
Dylan Hayes led Centerview in scoring with 17 points and McKeal Nichols led Northwest with 15.
CENTERVIEW (34): Dylan Hayes 17, Nathaniel White 7, Skyler Gray 6, Isaac Toby 2, Jeremy Hensley 2.
NORTHWEST (31): McKeal Nichols 15, Keshaun Hurst 11, Isaac Elliott 5.
Bridgeport 58, Del Rio 7 (BOYS)
The Bridgeport Rockets began defense of their 2011-12 league title in style as they dominated Del Rio and came away with a 51-point victory.
The Rockets jumped out to an 18-2 lead after a quarter and then led by a 31-5 margin at halftime.
Bridgeport had a balanced scoring attack with Jake Ball and Isaac Campbell in double-figures to lead the team in scoring with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Three scorers led Del Rio with two points each.
BRIDGEPORT (58): Jake Ball 15, Isaac Campbell 12, Logan Ford 8, Landon Myers 6, Joseph Freshour 4, Joshua Askew 4, Gabe Ford 4, Keaton Burgess 4, Austin Hawk 1.
DEL RIO (7): Nathan Reece 2, Eston Barrett 2, DJ Sells 2, Austin Herndon 1.
Bridgeport 44, Del Rio 10 (GIRLS)
A dominant second half effort on both ends of the court allowed the Bridgeport Lady Rockets to start the new season successfully. Leading 16-8 at halftime, they held Del Rio to only one field goal over the second half and outscored the Lady Trojans by a 28-2 margin over the final 12 minutes of the game.
Destianee Hall led all scorers with 20 points in the game, including 12 points coming in the second half.
Del Rio was led in scoring by Kristyn Conard.
BRIDGEPORT (44): Destianee Hall 20, Makenzie Jenkins 8, Erica Allen 6, Laney Hurley 4, Deanna Hembree 4, Shania Ball 2.

Parrottsville 50, Grassy Fork 18 (GIRLS)
The Lady Parrotts were able to score a season-opening win with a big first quarter. Parrottsville outscored Grassy Fork 16-2 over the first six minutes and the proceeded to open up to a 25-8 advantage at the halftime intermission.
The Lady Parrotts were spurred in the first half by Madison Atha, who scored five first half points. Macy Stump led the way in the second half with nine of her game-high 15 points coming in the second half.
Grassy Fork was led by Jada Baxter who scored 14 points.
PARROTTSVILLE (50): Macy Stump 15, Madison Atha 11, Bailey Reed 7, Kelly Shehee 4, Alexis Watts 4, Harmony Jenkins 3, Shalia Crabtree 2, Madison Maverick 2, Amelia Studebaker 2.
GRASSY FORK (18): Jada Baxter 14, Leah Mooneyham 2, Leia Groat 2.
Grassy Fork 26, Parrottsville 22 (BOYS)
A second half comeback was on tap for the Grassy Fork Ravens in the 2012-13 season opener. The Ravens roared back from a 17-7 halftime deficit to stun Parrottsville by a 26-22 margin.
A stifiling defensive effort held the Parrotts scoreless for the entire third quarter, allowing Grassy Fork to take close the gap to a single point at the end of the period.
Grassy Fork then outscored the Parrotts 10-5 over the final six minutes to capture the win.

Centerview 37, Northwest 2 (GIRLS)
A smothering defensive effort and a hot start allowed the Lady Falcons to earn a big opening night win.
Centerview held a 27-2 halftime advantage as they were firmly in control over the duration of the game.
