NEWPORT-Newport Utilities crews worked Monday installing brand-new Christmas lights along the McSween Memorial Bridge. The eight snowflake lights were purchased by an anonymous donor and will line the bridge throughout the up-coming holiday season.

Kellye Stokely, who, along with her daughter Sarah Stokely, initiated the community project "Light Up the Holidays," said the decision was made to hang the lights earlier than planned to ease some concerns residents have.

"We have received a lot of questions and concerns regarding the proper installation and care for the lights," said Kellye. "The original plan was to hang the lights after Thanksgiving, but we wanted to show people the lights are here and who was installing them."
