NEWPORT-Questions concerning the Tanner building were raised at the City Council workshop held Tuesday but answers remained elusive.

Roland Dykes III, chairman of a new Tanner building group called the Tanner Preservation Alliance, said there remained unanswered whether a senior citizens group has the leasing rights to the building.

"I was told there is a lease. Carlene (Robinson also) thinks there is one."

The question of whether a legal document exists regarding senior citizens use was discussed at the workshop.

Though that issue was unresolved, Dykes stated, "Right now, our purpose is to preserve the building."
