NEWPORT-Johnny R. Coleman age 30 of Jones Cove Road and Monica M. Denton age 36 of Jones Cove Road in Cosby, were arrested Friday for the especially aggravated robbery of Robert "Peanut " Webb at his residence at 804 Navaho Drive in Newport on July 9.

Webb was severely beaten and robbed of approximately $400 in cash. Webb was transported to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County for treatment of head and facial injuries.

Everette Woody age 49 of Newport was also robbed of $136 at gunpoint on the front porch of the Webb residence at 804 Navaho Drive. Woody was also struck in the head and ribs by the robbers.

On July 10, the residence of Anthony Moss, at 1400 Green Acres Drive Newport, was robbed by two white males who entered the residence with a firearm and beat Moss in the back of the head. Four cell phones, $900, one I-pod and a trail bike were stolen from Anthony Moss.

Coleman is charged with especially aggravated robbery in the Moss home robbery.

"I want to credit Newport Detective Donna Hall for her hard work and cooperation with Chief Detective Robert Caldwell of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department," said Newport Police Chief Maurice Shults.

"Donna followed up on several leads obtained by officers of the patrol division and was able to obtain arrest warrants on 07/22/2010.

"We want the citizens of Newport to know that we take these type crimes very seriously and intend to prosecute those responsible for the crimes to the fullest extent of the law."
