NEWPORT-Once again area banks are joining together in "Quacking for a Cure," the annual Relay for Life Rubber Duck Race.

Newport Federal Bank, National Bank of Tennessee, Tennessee State Bank, and US Bank representatives are putting the finishing touches on this year's campaign, according to Newport Federal Bank Loan Officer Sharon Styles, who chairs the effort.

Each bank has tiny rubber ducks for sale for $5 apiece. On Saturday, June 5, the ducks will be dumped into Sinking Creek at the Cocke County A&I Fairgrounds at 1 p.m. for the popular race.

The winning duck will earn its owner a $750 cash prize. Second place will be $250, while the third duck across the finish line will be awarded two Dollywood tickets.

"More prizes will be announced later," said Styles.

"We look forward to this race every year," said Styles. "The public always eagerly responds to help us reach our goal."

Numerous Relay for Life teams are hard at work organizing fundraising efforts for the Cocke County campaign. The grand celebration this year will be Friday and Saturday, June 4-5, at the Cocke County A&I Fairgrounds.
