NEWPORT-An altercation at an apartment at 1377 Highway 25/70 on Monday, at about 9 p.m., left one man seriously injured with a stab wound to his abdomen.

Randy Hurley, whose address and age were not released, was "in serious condition" at Johnson City Medical Center as a result of the altercation, Det. Derrick Woods said this morning.  When contacted directly, the JCMC said it did not have a status on Hurley's condition.

Det. Woods said Jackie Hall was also injured in the altercation, treated at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County, and arrested on a charge unrelated to the stabbing incident, out of Jefferson County. No age or address were given for Hall.

Hurley was flown by Wings to JCMC after the incident, which is "under investigation," Woods said.
