The Cocke County High School freshman basketball team notched their second win of the season on Monday night.

Cocke County exploded for 16 second quarter points, including a buzzer-beating three-quarter court heave by Corey Gregg to end the half, to extend the halftime margin to seven.

Jake Clevenger, who led the team in scoring, tossed in nine second half points to help the Fighting Cocks pull away for the 18-point victory.

Cocke County was led in scoring by Jake Clevenger's 13 points and Corey Gregg scored 12. Samuel Brown added seven, Mace Coakley six, Taylor Sells 6, Chase Woods 4, Jake Ottinger 3, and Kyle Green 2.

Cherokee was led by Shawn Bond who scored eight points.

The team's scheduled home game with Jefferson County on Thursday night has been moved to Dandridge.

The Monday night win capped off a good stretch by the CCHS feeder programs.

On Friday night, the girl's junior varsity team took a 20-point decision over the Sevier County Bearettes to run their record to 3-1. The boy's junior varsity overcame their first loss in nearly two seasons with a comeback effort over Sevier County.
