NEWPORT-The Cocke County High School and Middle School teams split the winnings with their Powell counterparts Monday evening at the Newport Community Center pool.

The Powell High School squad bested the Fighting Cocks 145-135, but the Big Red middle school team zoomed past their Powell opponents 160 to 79.

Two CCHS school records were broken Monday. Jordan Lloyd's 1:17.59 first place win in the 100 Breaststroke topped the record set by his older brother, Logan Lloyd during the '04-'05 season. James Ball also raised the bar by swimming a 5:56.88 in the 500 freestyle, beating another record set by Logan Lloyd in '04-'05.

James Ball was the sole double winner for CCHS, placing first in the 100 Butterfly and the 500 Freestyle. Other first place winners included Justin Shropshire in the 200 Freestyle, Erika Wild in the 50 Freestyle, and Hayley Parks in the 100 Backstroke.

CCMS's Jacob Holt placed first in three events, including the 200 Individual Medley, the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Breaststroke. Bethany McNabb was a double winner for the middle school squad, placing first in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle. Other first place winners were Cherokee Cobb in the 100 Butterfly, Peytan Ogle in the 100 Freestyle and Rachel Watts in the 100 Backstroke.

The middle school girls' 400 Freestyle relay team came from behind to take first place. The team was comprised of Haley Ivey, Peytan Ogle, Rachel Watts and anchor Bethany McNabb, who virtually skimmed to surface of the water to pull the team from behind.

CCHS hosts the next meet against Anderson County December 7 at the Newport Community Center Pool, with warm ups beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the competition at 6:30.
