Students whose parents have signed parental consent forms will receive H1N1 shots at Newport Grammar School on Wednesday, Nov. 11, starting at 8:15 a.m. According to NGS Health Coordinator Mischelle Black, representatives from the Cocke County Health Department will administer the vaccinations. Parental consent forms and information sheets about the vaccinations were sent home in October. Copies of these consent forms can be picked up in both the NGS main office and the office of the school nurse. For further information, call Mandy Gregg at the Cocke County Health Department or Black at Newport Grammar School - 623-3811 - extension 255. The Cocke County School System Coordinated Health program, along with the Cocke County Health Department, will administer H1N1 vaccinations starting Monday, Nov. 9. They will be working throughout the week to give the shots to all students at each school whose parents completed and returned the permission forms. "If you wish for your child to take the H1N1 vaccine and did not return the consent form, please return it to your child's school immediately," said Rita McNabb, Cocke County School System Coordinated School Health Coordinator. Anyone needing further information about the county schools' plans should call McNabb at (423) 623-1528 or Mandy Gregg at the Cocke County Health Department at (423) 623-8733.
