Dear Editor:

It is the first of November, and Veteran's Day is fast upon us.

Cocke County has a rich heritage of soldier's that have given their lives in sacrifice for our freedoms; past, present, and future. We plan ceremonies every Memorial Day to honor our soldiers. Our courthouse displays a fence of names of those soldiers in OIF/OEF conflicts now.

We have a stunning monument to our fallen soldiers of WWI, WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam. But the one thing puzzling me is how we can continue to dishonor them by turning a blind eye on the misspelled word, "Sacrafice", on the memorial! We have brought this to the attention of several officials of the county, but to no avail.

Is there no one in charge in Cocke County that can right this wrong before another Veteran's Day passes. That would truly be a way of honoring their sacrifices.

Thanks for bringing attention to this disgrace.
