The proposed budget, which includes no tax increase nor raises for county employees, was approved by the Finance Committee earlier this month. Members agreed to remove 3 cents in funding from the Highway Department Budget to overcome a budget shortfall and will now have an unappropriated fund balance of $27,000. In other business Monday, members will: • Have a proclamation honoring the late James Goodrum Jr., who served on the planning commission. • Fill the vacancy of third district highway commissioner left vacant by the resignation of Alton Cureton. • Consider road names changes, road extensions, new roads and road list changes submitted by the Cocke County Highway Department. • Hear monthly reports from Newport Animal Shelter, EDC, Allied Ambulance and Cocke County schools. • Consider bond renewal for Constable Nathan White. • Consider a resolution to adopt the authority granted to counties under TCA 5-1-118 submitted by the RID Committee.
