NEWPORT-Interviews for a new Cocke County High School principal will begin Monday, July 6, according to Cocke County Director of Schools Manney Moore.

Moore said Monday morning that the interviews will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and will be conducted at the Central Office. The interviews will be open to the public.

Joining Moore in the interviews will be Cocke County Board of Education members Dr. Ken Johnson and Pat Proffitt, Mary Ann Vick, who is chairperson of the CCHS steering committee, and Central Office staff members.

"Any CCHS staff member who has questions or input to offer should either telephone or e-mail Mrs. Vick," Moore said.

Moore said that he expects a decision to be made later in the week.

Five people will be interviewed. They are current CCHS Assistant Principals Steve Ball and Larry Williams, CCHS chemistry and biology teacher Dr. Mitzy Hall, Jefferson County principal Dr. Robert Vick, and D. Gregory Bullock.

The new principal will replace R. Gary Williams, who has been CCHS principal for the past 15 years. Earlier this year he asked to be reassigned to a new position within the system.
