COSBY-Thirty  members of the Cosby Elementary School Junior Beta Club recently enjoyed a trip to Virginia and Washington, D. C.

Club members, sponsors, and chaperones traveled to the nation's capitol, where their days and nights were filled with visits to numerous points of historical interest.

They visited the Manassas Battlefield, scene of two major battles of the Civil War.

In Washington, D. C., they toured the Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institute, U. S. Supreme Court building, and the National Cathedral.

They also stopped by memorials to three wars: World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. While at Arlington National Cemetery, they witnessed the impressive changing of the guard ceremony and laying of the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They also visited the graves of President John F. Kennedy and his brother U. S. Attorney General  Robert Kennedy.

Other visits were made to the National Archives, the White House, and the United States Capitol.

They especially enjoyed a short visit with Tennessee Senator Bob Corker and having their picture taken with him on the steps of the capitol.

Students making the trip were Luke Lane, Jacie York, Tara Nichols, Brittany Branam, Tyler Chrisawn, Jordan Carpenter, Eric Garver, Nathan Webb, Erica Cody, J. T. Williamson, Lindsey Wines, McKala Fox, Stephanie Ledford, Laura Shepherd, Ali Given, Sara Cowan, Brianna McClanahan, Karson Keller, Kristen Giles, Emily Hartsell, Morgan Rowland, Lindsey Johnson, Madison Dunn, Daniel Trent, Katie Stuart, Justin Cowan, Beth Murrell, Ellie Owens, Jessie Byer, and Emily Webb.
