James Conrad Smith

James Conrad Smith, born February 7, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, died October 16, 2013, at Turkey Creek Medical Center.
He was employed by American Enka and BASF for 31 years. After retiring from BASF, he spent 27 years developing and managing commercial properties in Newport, TN.
He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife Christine Cross Smith, sons Dr. Steven F. Smith and wife Sherry of Newport, and Dr. Mark C. Smith and wife Margie of Greeneville; grandchildren Jessie Smith Depew, Rebecca Smith, Seth Adam Smith, and Easton Smith, all of Newport; Mary Elizabeth Smith, McKenzie Ann Smith, Matthew Smith, and Maxwell Smith, all of Greeneville.
The family received friends from 5:00—7:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013, with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Starks officiating.
Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, in New Home Cemetery.
