Marie Gorrell went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 21, 2013.
Mrs. Gorrell, age 85, of Newport, passed away Sunday at Tennova Newport Convalescent Center.
She was retired from Detroit Gasket Company and a member of Riverview Baptist Church, having served as the children's Sunday School teacher.
She loved her God, family, flowers, and pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gorrell, parents John Dolph and Leecy Fowler Blazer, sister-in-law Frances Lanes, brothers-in-law Charlie Graden Blazer and George and Bob Gorrell.
She is survived by her sisters Rena Blazer of Johnson City and Vallie Bible (Carroll) of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers-in-law Gene Gorrell, Carl Gorrell, and Junior Gorrell, all of Newport; and sisters-in-law Vera Freeman of South Carolina and Lean Spisak of Michigan.
She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral services following at 8:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Officiating at the funeral and graveside services will be Pastors John Hitechew and Alvin Watts.
The family would like to thank the personnel of Tennova Newport Convalescent Center and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice of Newport.
