Dennis (Denny) Matthew Long, IV, age 69, of Newport, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam and retired from Bell South.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Long and father, Dennis M. Long III; and grandfather, Ben H. Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Long of Newport; son, Rick (Shea) Long of Mohawk; daughter, Alice Long of Parrottsville; grandchildren, Caitlin Ramsey and Cameron Ramsey of Newport and Logan Long of Mohawk; brother, Ben (Phyllis) Long; and nephew, Matthew Long all of Maryville; also other family and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel from noon until 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a memorial service following at 7 p.m., with Rev. Terry Ottinger and Dr. Craig Ward officiating.
Military graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, Decemeber 28, 2012 in Union Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Kyker, Charlie Seehorn, George Clark, Jimmy Beason, Keith Baxter, J.D. Foreman, Larry Grooms, L.D. Ottinger, Ronnie Ottinger, and Kimball Smelcer.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to your favorite charity in Denny's memory.
