Mrs. Beulah B. Strange Maloy, age 89, of Newport, went to be with the Lord Friday morning, November 23, 2012.

She was born and reared in Cocke County, the daughter of the late Rome Ball and Oma Ball Hance.

Mrs. Maloy was known as a soft-spoken lady, who loved her children dearly and taught them to be loving and caring to everyone they met. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and especially her cherished friend and hairdresser Pam Hannon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Voyle Maloy, former husband and the father of her children Ed Strange, sisters Juanita Belle Hance and Eula Blanch Dugger, brothers Wayne and Leon Hance, and great-granddaughter Amy Rebekka McMahan.

Mrs. Maloy was heartbroken when her grandson Chip McMahan died unexpectedly at the V.A. (NHCU) at Mountain Home, Tennessee, where he had resided for many years. Chip was the only grandchild who called her "Grandmother," and waited with anticipation for Grandmother to call him every Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

She is survived by her daughter Sue (Gene) McMahan of Johnson City; sons Dood (Brenda) Strange and Bryce (Sherry) Strange, all of Newport; Everett "Sog" (Karen) Strange of Kingston; and Darryl "Chuck" (Victoria) Strange of Pigeon Forge. Grandchildren Janet McMahan, Sandy Walton, Mandy Epley, Melanie Smith, Marcee Hopkins, Laura Gass, Tim Strange, Jeff Strange, Mark Strange, Brian Strange, Jody Strange, Ryan Strange, and Randy Ogle; sisters Shirley Allen, Imogene Taylor, and Trula Gregg, and brother Johnny Hance.

Additional survivors include several great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren,  several nieces and nephews, and former daughter-in-law Linda Strange.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012, in Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Murr officiating.

Entombment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at Costner-Maloy Home prior to the funeral services.
