Ordway Holt

Ordway Holt, age 87, of Bybee, TN, was born February 24, 1922 and passed away Wednesday, February, 2010, at Lakeway Regional Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. Ordway was a member of Briar Thicket Baptist Church in Bybee. He served his country during World War II in the air offensive in Japan, China, and India Burma. He was decorated with four Bronze Stars, along with many more medals. He was an aircraft mechanic, fueling planes for combat when stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Parker Holt, parents Melvin and Estalena Bible Holt, and sister Sue Anna Holt Gray, all of Bybee. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Gail Holt; stepgranddaughter and her husband Stephanie and Matt Burr and their daughter Kija, all of Maryville; nieces and their husbands Lena and Charles Lovell and Katherine and Tim Holt, all of Newport. The family would like to especially thank Bruners Grover United Methodist Church for their love and kindness during Mr. Holt's illness. The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at Manes Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Glendale Cemetery with Rev.
