Wilma J. Laws, age 69, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at her home in Marion, Indiana. Born January 1, 1941, she was a native of Newport, TN, and a daughter of the late Chess W. and Nola Mae (Russell) Strange. Mrs. Laws had lived in the Marion area for over 40 years. She married James E. Laws, who survives, on September 7, 1961. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crochet work. She was also an avid NASCAR fan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Laws was preceded in death by one brother Ronald E. Strange and two sisters Virginia Cook and Donna Lynn Strange. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Charmie (Carl) Irick of Madisonville, TN; O. Allen (Cheryl) Laws, Warren, IN; Theresa L. (Rick) Randolph, Marion, IN; and Phyllis D. (Leo) Sims, Fairmount, IN. Other survivors include two brothers Orville (Irene) Strange, Talbott, TN and Michael (Maggie) Strange, Newport, TN; three sisters Judy (Gary) Taylor and Charlotte Collier, both of Newport, TN and Rita (Eric) Lackey, Sevierville, TN; and five grandchildren: Bryan and Kristen Swisher, and Joshua, Justin, and Jessica Laws. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington St., Marion, IN with Pastor O. Allen Laws and Rev. Ron Forsythe officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, IN. Memorials may be made to New Hope Hospice, 730 West 35th Street, Marion, IN 46953.
