Jetta B. Johnson Allen, age 85, of Newport, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2010.

She attended Little Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kelse and Algie Johnson, her son Jimmy and his wife Bobbie and their son Jimmy Wayne Allen, her sister Glennie Metcalf, and her brothers Clay, Charlie, Isaac Dale, and Enos Johnson.

She is survived by her children Brenda Hall and husband Hubert, Jerry Allen and wife Robin, Glenda Ann Taffer and husband J. C., Dale Allen and wife Cathy; brothers Elbert Johnson and wife Joann, and Oris Johnson; grandchildren Terry Dale McMahan, Christy Hartsell, Betty Ann Ball, Kathy Shropshire, Nina Jean Allen, William Allen, Sara Allen, Michael Dale Allen; great-grandchildren Cassy and Bethany McMahan, Tyler and Jamie Hartsell, Devan Allen, Cody and Jody Ball, Chad, Corey, and Chase Shropshire, Ronnie Luke, and Brady Allen-Bryant, Aden and Jackson Allen, Emily and Elizabeth (Izzy) Wilson, Daniel Walker, Payton Shropshire, and Hayden Allen; special nieces Charlene Johnson and Judy Hall; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Mercy Hospital and the Convalescent Center; also to Paula Evans and Melanie Vassar from Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Messer, Rev. Cleo Williamson, and Rev. Robert Mayhorn officiating.

Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010, in the Allen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Ball, Jody Ball, Chad Shropshire, Corey Shropshire, Chase Shropshire, Michael Dale Allen, and William Allen.
