Audra Carlisle Ford

Audra Carlisle Ford, age 81, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Audra was preceded in death by her parents Reverend and Mrs. Leslie Carlisle, her husband John Fletcher Ford, a daughter Rebecca Jane Ford, a sister Cleo Huff, and a special brother-in-law Floyd Branam. Audra was a faithful member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and was active in the Shelton Circle and a member of the Marty Medford Sunday School Class. She worked with the GA's and was a past superintendent of the Beginner Sunday School. Audra was a graduate of Cocke County High School Class of 1945 and attended East Tennessee State University. She later taught school in Cocke County. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Ella Ford, a daughter Mary Alice Miller, grandchildren Molly Katherine Ford and Cheyenne and Christian Miller, all of Newport; a sister Mary Carlisle Branam, Newport; and a brother-in-law Dr. Donald R. Ford, Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Velma Ford, Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Craig Ward and Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. The family received friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2009, prior to the services. Interment was at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009, in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the East Tennessee Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H 102, Knoxville, TN 37919.
