Larry A. Eslinger

Larry A. Eslinger, age 61, of Mentor, Ohio, died October 12, 2009, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughy. He was born August 18, 1948 in Newport, TN, a son of Al and Betty Eslinger, who later moved to Mentor. He was a grandson of Ben and Laura Eslinger and Joe and Lucille Shepherd, all of whom resided in Newport. Mr. Eslinger worked for the Lake County engineer's office as a road superintendent for 21 years. Prior to that, he was a member of Laborers Local 860. He was an avid boater and fisherman, who enjoyed spending time on his boat "It's a Boat Time." He was a member of Fairport Harbor Yacht Club and had served as a past commodore. He had also served as a past commander for the former Painesville Power Squadron. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willoughby, he had served as president of the congregation, had sung in the church choir, and was active in many other parts of the church. He was a 1967 graduate of Mentor High School and later attended Lakeland Community College, where he earned two associate degrees. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Jane (Neubacher) Eslinger; son Allen Eslinger of Mentor; mother Betty Eslinger of Mentor; sister Debbie (J. D.) Sauer of Chandler, TX; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father Al Eslinger. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 16, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment followed in Mentor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Eslinger's memory to Trinity Luther Church Foundation or to Trinity Lutheran Church, L. Y.
