Mr. Larry Dean Bumgarner, age 50, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was a former employee of Merchants and Planters Bank and had served as a board member of the Cocke County A & I Fair Association.

He was a member of Northport Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Wesley and Maudie Lee Lane Bumgarner and a sister Elizabeth Ann Bumgarner Gregg.

He is survived by his brother J. W. Bumgarner of Surfside Beach, SC; aunts Sarah Hance Lewis and Alma Warden, both of Newport, and Hazel Bumgarner Gowan of Hot Springs, NC; uncle Ferman Bumgarner of Rutledge, TN; nieces Kim Bumgarner and Donna Bumgarner Carmichael, both of SC; nephews Keith Gregg of Newport and Kendall Gregg of Murfreesboro, TN; three great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Additional survivors include special friends Mike and Melba Kilpatrick of Newport.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Holbrook and Rev. Alvin Watts officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the services.

Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday, October, 23, 2009, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens for the 10:00 a.m. interment service.
