Marilyn Lusk Lusby

Published: 02/11/2014

Marilyn Lusk Lusby, age 87, of Knoxville was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 9, 2014.

She was born June 2, 1926, to Roy and Zylpha Lusk.

She had been a member of Asbury United Methodist Church since age 13, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was devoted to raising money for missions.

She was a former employee of Swaggerty’s Florist.  She loved flowers, watching her bluebirds, gardening and canning the harvest, reading, and beating her family at Scrabble.  There was no question that she loved her Lord, her family, and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 54 years, Ralph Lusby.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Doug and Fran Lusby of Brentwood and Bill and Jody Lusby of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Bill Vaughn of Newport; grandchildren Todd (Stephanie) Lusby of Midlothian, VA, Wendy (Chris) Taylor of Newport, Lee Ann (Tim) Hawkins, Lori (Scott) Caldwell, and Sarah (David) Brewer all of Knoxville, and Cara Lusby of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Ethan Lusby, Brendan and Nicholas Taylor, Jacob and Mollie Hawkins, Anecia and Bryar Caldwell, and Elsa and Eliza Brewer; and sister Bobbie Abshire of Greensboro, NC.

Special thanks go to her devoted and loving caregivers Brittney Haun, Peggy Cantrell, and UT Hospice Services.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Dial and Rev. David Smith officiating followed by the interment at Asbury Cemetery.  Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.  Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 2822 Asbury Road, Knoxville, TN 37914, or UT Hospice, 2270 Sutherland Avenue, Ste. 101, Knoxville, TN  37919.  The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.  www.bridgesfuneralhome.com
