Virginia "Jenny" Lynn Rolen

Virginia 'Jenny' Lynn Rolen, age 69, of Newport, our beloved daughter and sister, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2013, after a five-month battle with brain cancer.

Virginia was born November 17, 1944, the fourth child born to Edd and Lucille Williams Rolen.

A lifelong resident of Cocke County, she attended Newport Grammar School and was a 1962 graduate of Cocke County High School.

After graduation, she was employed by Roses, Parks Belk, and, until her illness, at the Cocke County Trustee office.

Her hobbies were knowing the people of Cocke County, reading, and genealogy.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father Edd Rolen, infant twin brothers, grandparents O. L. and Edna Williams and Bruce and Minnie Rolen, and brothers-in-law Dennis Lindsay, Sr. and Maurice Roberts.

She is survived by her mother Lucille Rolen of Newport, sisters Sharon Lindsay of Douglasville, GA and Vickie Roberts of Newport, nephews Dennis Lindsay, Jr. of Villa Rica, GA and William Lindsay of Winston, GA; six great-nieces and great-nephews, four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, uncles Oscar Williams of Jasper, GA and Frank Rolen of Wenatchee, Washington, many cousins, and special friends Annette Merica, Brenda Shults, and Madge Williams.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2013, from 5:00—9:00 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Glen Bradley officiating. Songs will be by Amanda Belton.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis, William, and Nathan Lindsay, Dale McMahan, Wayne Ellison, and Robin Williams.

A special “Thank you” to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and caretakers Patricia Cody and Amanda Belton.
