Deacon, Grand Inspector General, Brother Melvin Woods

Melvin Woods age 67, of Dandridge, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013, at his home.

He was a loyal member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

He retired from BASF. He was a member of the United Supreme Council, 33rd Degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Prince Hall Affiliation. Alcoa Consistory No. 175, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites, Prince Hall Affiliation. Keblah Temple No. 78, Ancient Egyptian Arabic Noble Mystic Shrine of North and South America and itís Jurisdictions, Inc. Blue House-B.W. Haynes District Council No. 16.

He was a founding member of Citizens for Justice, Equality and Fairness in Dandridge, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Woods; brothers, Walter Woods, Jr., and Wayne Woods; sisters, Charlotte Woods and Linda Davidson.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah L. Woods, of Dandridge, daughters, Emily Michelle Greenlee and husband Thomas, of McDonough, GA; Melinda Sue Bone and husband, Timothy, of Chattanooga, TN; Bridgett Melaina McBride and husband, Timothy of Nashville, TN; brothers, Gary (Gail) Woods, Leo (Ruth) Woods, of Newport and Ben (Sherry) Carr, of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Joshua Lewis, Brian, Genesis, Sarah and Mary Greenlee, Ariel, Demetri and Melaina Bone, Timothy II, Noah and Samaria McBride; and a host of relatives, family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with a Masonic Service following at 7:15 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
