Richard Griffin, age 70, of Parrottsville, passed away at his home on March 15, 2013.

He was born August 22, 1942 in Madison County, NC. He attended school in Mars Hill, NC. He was a retired factory worker and farmer.

Richard married Mary Lois Fox on July 13, 1967 in Burnsville, NC. They were soul mates that were blessed with 45 years together.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charley Griffin and Rettie Lee Huffman; sisters Mary Sue Angel, Stella Cogburn, and Ellen Parker; brothers Paul Griffin, Johnny Griffin, and David Griffin; and grandson Matthew Griffin.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lois Fox Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Crystal Griffin and Norman and Ernestine Griffin; "his boys" Eddie Hammonds and Tony Mace; brothers Grady Griffin, Bobby Griffin, Lloyd Griffin, and Dean Griffin; sisters Genelle Clements and Margaret Fox; granddaughters Holly Baker, Makayla Griffin, Kendra Griffin, Tristan Carpenter, and Mackenzie Griffin; grandson Nate Blank.

He is also survived by grandson Anthony Orlando and great-grandchild Nahla; granddaughter and grandson Crystal and Ken Shelton and great-grandchildren Charity, Chelsea and Kaden; grandson Robert Orlando and great-grandchild Trenton; and grandson Jake Griffin. Also his very special, close friends William (Carroll), Trula, Jerry Renner and family.

The Griffin family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice family.
