Mr. Billie Lee Roberts, age 82, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Newport Medical Center.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He retired from the United States Navy after twenty years of service.

He is survived by his wife Jessie Owens Roberts of the home; son Wesley (Vicky) Roberts of Kentucky; step-children Michael Owens and Steve (Nancy) Owens, all of Georgia; Debbie (Norman) Sands of Virginia; grandsons Kevin York and Lee Roberts and their mother Sue Roberts, all of Georgia; step-grandchildren James Owens of Newport and Amy Cagle of Morristown; step-great-grandchildren Cassie Cagle, Casandra Cagle, Steven Owens, Hunter Owens, and Destiny Owens, all of Morristown; brothers Bob Roberts of Ohio and Don Roberts of Oklahoma; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law James (Joyce) Barrett, Ronnie (Meschelyn) Barrett, and Johnny Rizzo, all of Newport; Nellie (Ben) Brewer of Morristown; and Janice Rogers of Virginia. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Martin Stump officiating. Family and friends will meet at Big Hill Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, for the 10:00 interment.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
