Webster Sylvester Hartzog, of Newport, born December 19, 1921, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013. After battling several forms of cancer, he succumbed to death due to heart failure.

Mr. Hartzog served in the United States Navy during World War II and a short time in the Air Force.

After retiring from CF Industries, he and Mary enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, gardening, and cooking. Syl enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and will be missed by many.

Mr. Hartzog was predeceased in death by his parents Vessie and Vera; son Wayne; grandson Jeffery; sister Nadine; and brothers Cortez, Bronzell, Darnell, and Buel.

Mr. Hartzog is survived by Mary, his wife of 37 years; sons and daughters-in-law Grady and Denise, Dwight and Jeanette, Bruce and Tommie; daughters and sons-in-law Joy and Stan Hudson and Claire and James Green; daughter-in-law Sue; sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Huey Bozeman; brother and sister-in-law Gale and Carol Hartzog; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Linda Weigle and husband Ron; also many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Manes Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
