Published: 02/07/2013

Michael S. Carney of Cosby, TN, died unexpectedly on February 4, 2013.

He was born in Washington, D. C. on September 3, 1961, and graduated from Old Town High School in Maine.

Mike served in the United States Air Force for five years before settling in Cosby.

He became a key staff member at the Log Home Information Center founded by Allan and Doris Muir (sister), where he learned the craft of log home building. He went on to work general construction and historic restoration.

Mike dearly loved his many dogs and enjoyed movies, singing, and spending time with friends and family. He was known as a hard worker and a man with a kind heart.

Michael was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Colony Eisner, brother-in-law Allan Muir, special niece Teresa Muir, and his Tennessee "mom" Bertha Williamson.

He is survived by his sisters Doris Muir, Barbara Stewart (Bill), and Mary-Lou Ogden (Peter) and their children. He also leaves behind his Tennessee "family": Ferman, Quenton, and Twanena Williamson.

Those wishing to join in a celebration of Mike's life are invited to attend this Sunday, February 10, 2013, the 10:00 a.m. worship service at Little Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church off US Hwy. 321 between Newport and Cosby.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Huntingdon, PA at a later date.
