Vivian J. (Ball) Smith, age 89, of Newport, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at her home.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Smith, parents Arlie and Belle Black Ball, brothers Lloyd, Sam, and Travis Ball, and sister Lavon Riddle.

Survivors include her daughter Dorothy Smith of Newport and sons Jimmy (Teresa) Smith and Jimmy Guy Smith of Newport.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Smith, Andy Smith, Julie Braddox, and Lisa Green, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Additional survivors include her brothers Dale Ball of Del Rio, Hoyt Ball of Whitesburg, Virginia, I. V. Ball of North Carolina, and Wayne Ball of Missouri, and sisters Florence Camer of Rutledge and Elois Wallace of Georgia. There are several nieces and nephews that will be left behind.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Ball officiating. Visitation will be prior to the funeral services from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will be a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013.
