Mr. Cleve Benson, Sr., age 88, of Newport, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife Trula Benson, son Steve Benson, and daughter Linda Strange.

He is survived by his children Cleve (Linda) Benson, Jr., Thelma (Bud) Webb, William (Kathy) Benson, Daisy (Danny) Ramsey, Peggy (Ronnie) McGaha, Brenda (Donnie) Strange, and Charlene (Griffin) Stuart, all of Cosby.

Additional survivors include nineteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and special friends Lena Mae McMahan and Brenda Seay, both of Newport.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the services.

The family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Tritt Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. interment.
