George Bryant, age 88, of Newport, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, in Newport Health and Rehab Center.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II and the Korean War.

He loved God, family, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Flora Bryant, also several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his son Mark Bryant of Heiskel, TN; daughters Paula Chapman of Knoxville and Loretta Martinson and her husband Tom of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Madisyn Chapman, Travis Chapman, Cory Bryant, and Shelby Bryant; also his special friend and caretaker Eula Freeman and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral services. Burial will follow in the Sisk-Bryant-Hannon Cemetery.
