Daniel S. Vinson, age 93, of Newport, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Medical Center.

He was a member of the McCowan Creek Church of God and a retired barber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife Hattie 'Dottie' Vinson of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law Sharon 'Sheri' and Phil Calfee and Sonya and Eddie Stone; sons and daughters-in-law Shannon and Ila Vinson and Daniel W. and Sandy Vinson; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Atlas, Steve, and Phil.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the McCowan Creek Church of God with Rev. Dr. Edward Stone officiating.
