Mr. Toy E. Reece, age 90, of Newport, went to be with the
Lord on December 29, 2012.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and
friend to many.
He proudly served in the United States Army 184th
Infantry, 7th Division, during World War II. He received the Purple Heart, two
Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II
Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Combat Infantryman Badge, and
American Campaign Medal.
He was a faithful member of Edgemont Church of God.
He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the
Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and
Elizabeth Reece, brothers Reuben, John, Floyd, Patton, Isaac, Richard,
Darlious, and Cecil Reece, and sisters Vina Bible, Hattie Carlisle, and Sweeter
Reece.
He is survived her his wife Thelma Reece of the home;
daughter and son-in-law Tonya and Rob Bible of Newport; sons and daughters
-in-law Jackie and Phyllis Reece, William and Janella Reece, and Danny and
Estalee Reece, all of Newport, son Stevie Reece of Newport; special grandchildren
Ashley and Autumn Bible of Newport; Michelle Davis of Ocala, Florida; Jackie,
Jr., Rusty, Randy, Danny Ray, and Benjamin Reece, all of Newport; nine
great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
The family received friends Sunday, December 30, 2012,
from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with the funeral services following at 8:00 p.m. with
Bishop John Nations and Rev. James McFalls officiating. Gravesides services
were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Resthaven Memorial
Gardens.
