Alfred Allen Gray, age 69, went home to be with the good
Lord, Monday, December 24, 2012, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his
family at his home.
He was of the Baptist faith, member of the Newport No.
234 Masonic Lodge and Knoxville Scottish Rite. He was an avid outdoorsman, he
loved to camp, fish and most of all he loved devoting his time to his
grandsons.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Hulda
Mae Gray, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Blackie Cureton, and
his wonderful sister-in-law Patricia Cureton.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Gray;
daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Roger Stokely; grandsons, Brandon and
Jordan Stokely; sister and brother in law Vernice and Vernon Troutman;
brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Carroll Cureton, Bob and Sue Shults, Dale
and Bindy Ottinger, and Jerry and Donna Cureton; many nieces and nephews, and
other family and friends; and special lifetime friends, Linda Smith and Jack
Rector.
Per his request graveside services will be held 1:00 pm
Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be
made to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
