Johnny Wayne Stokely, age 48, of Hartford, passed away
Friday, December 21, 2012. He was an ordained minister and faithful member of
New Prospect Baptist Church where he served as Assistant Pastor, Sunday School
teacher, Bible School worker and choir member.
He was preceded in death by his mother Aileen Smith
Stokely, grandparents Joe and Ola Stokely and Euel and Cleo Smith, uncles
Denmon Smith, Keith Smith, Maurice Smith, Frank Carrell, Ralph Stokely, Houston
Stokely and Clyde Roberts, and aunt Evelyn Roberts.
Survivors include his father Willie Stokely, sister
Jennifer Stokely, brother-in-law Kenny Phillips, nephew Dillon Denton, niece
Taylor Denton, aunts Maxine Carrell, Shirley Roberts (Burl), Marilyn Manes
(Charles), Donna Garbin, Vangie Smith, Edna Worley, Nona Stokely, Katherine
Rapier, Geri Stokely, and Brenda Smith, uncles Johnny Burnett, Ray Stokely
(Reba), Curly Stokely, Wiley Stokely (Willian), George Stokely (Shelia), and
Everett Worley along with a host of cousins, friends, and church family.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23,
2012 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Willis officiating.
Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012 at Clark Cemetery (Deep
Gap). The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the
service at the funeral home.
