Mr. Phillip Ellison, age 87, of Del Rio, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents Birtie and Elizabeth Ellison, grandchildren Tammy Crumbley and Donna Lisa Beaver, and great-grandchildren Timothy Roberts and Joshua Roberts, brothers Hobert Ellison, Estes Ellison, Alden Ellison, and Everette Ellison, and sister Sarah Messer.

He is survived by his children Donna Beaver of Newport, Lonnie Ellison of Duncan, South Carolina, Shirley Ellison of Cosby, Linda Beaudette of Eauclaire, Wisconsin, Joann Burgess of Newport, Kathy Grooms of Parrottsville, Roy Dan Ellison and Joey Neil Ellison, both of Del Rio, and David Ellison and Amy Ellison, both of Newport; twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; brothers Carl Ellison of New York and Bertie Ellison of Newport. Additional survivors include his former wife Mabel Lee Ellison of Newport, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be a funeral service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Suggs officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 Friday morning, December 21, 2012, at the Ellison Family Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
