Mrs. Diane Phillips, age 63, of Parrottsville passed away
Saturday morning, November 10, 2012, at home with her husband, Charles Phillips
and sister-in-law Nancy Shea by her side.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Staruk and
sister Susan Staruk both of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts.
She is survived by her husband Charles Phillips of
Parrottsville, son Tony Phillips of St. Augustine, Florida, son Cody Phillips
and daughter-in-law Alison Phillips of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mother Helen
Staruk, twin sister Joyce Staruk, and niece and nephew Calla and Ed Staruk
Gillies, all of Vineyard Haven, MA.
She also leaves behind many aunts, cousins, nieces,
nephews, and friends up and down the East Coast and in the mountains of East
Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Diane will always be remembered for her
smile. When she walked into a room, the room would light up, and all seemed
well. She was a joy to all of us and our lives are better for having known her.
Leaving Boston in the early 70's after attending Boston
College, she lived in Mystic, Conn., the Florida Keys, and the past 14 years in
Tennessee. She once said, "Bloom where you are planted," and that's
exactly what she did.
A ceremony will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at
Bahia Honda State Park of the Florida Keys. Services in Tennessee and Martha's
Vineyard will be planned for 2013.
