Ernest Calvin 'Bear' Cody, age 63, of Newport, passed away November 13, 2012, at his residence.

Ernest was preceded in death by his father Columbus Brown.

He is survived by his mother Maurice 'Tootsie' Cody and stepfather Clarence Cody, brothers Ray (Carol) Cody of North Carolina and Gary (Janie) Cody of Newport; half-brother Dennis Williams of Newport; fiancée Juanita Brown; niece Tracy Cody of Newport; and great-nephews Ethan and Austin Ledford of Newport.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 15, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Ball officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
