Mrs. Ruth Julie Manos Shelton, age 71, of Newport, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at Newport Medical Center.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Noah Manos and Hester Manos, grandson Stephen Thomas, and sister Oletha Gregg.

She is survived by her son Joel (Kathy) Thomas of Newport; grandchildren Karen (Nick) Beings, Travis (Sammatha) Thomas, and Joel Thomas, Jr., all of Newport; five great-grandchildren; sisters Kathy (Paul) Durham of Del Rio; Patty (Mike) McFarland of Newport; Wanda (Clyde) Barnes of Candler, NC; and Maggie (Hubert) Shelton of Leicester, NC; brothers Handy (Betty) Manos of Parrottsville; Gene (Ella) Manos of Newport; Geter (Minnie) Manos of Leicester, NC and Jack Manos of Newport.

Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Blazer Cemetery in Parrottsville.

Mrs. Shelton was taken to the family home, 556 Eighth Street, where the family will receive friends until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9.
