Jimmie C. James, age 77, of the Swannsylvania community
in Dandridge, went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2012, while his wife
of 58 years was by his side.
He was a member of Swannsylvania Baptist Church for over
55 years, where he served as a deacon. Over the years he served the Lord as
church clerk, youth director, and was an inspiration in the development of the
God's Willing Vessels Food Pantry. He faithfully served the people in his church
and community during their times of need.
He was employed by Rust Engineers in Oak Ridge for 45
years.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mattie
Lunsford James, brothers Paul, Clyde, Homer, and John D. James and sisters Ruby
Freshour and Mary Dockery.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Kathleen Chrisman
James, son Rusty (Penny) James of White Pine; daughters Terri (Jeff) Runyan and
Lorrie Watts of Dandridge; grandchildren Ben (Rachel) James, Luke (Sarah)
James, Josh Runyan, Tony (Read) Runyan, Rebecca Watts, and Jon Watts;
great-granddaughter Layla Grace James; brother Oscar James, and sister Joy Cox.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012, at
Swannsylvania Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hensley and Rev. Chuck Mills
officiating. Interment graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at
Swannsylvania Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be
made to the Swannsylvania Baptist Church Building Fund, 921 Swannsylvania Road,
Dandridge, TN 37725.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon and
evening from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
