Regina (Poteete) Shelton, age 56, of Del Rio, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on September 29, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, following a lengthy illness.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years R. J. Shelton, Jr. of the home; their two children and spouses Andrew Shelton (Jessica) of Newport and Tina Self (Todd) of Hot Springs, North Carolina; three precious grandchildren whom she dearly loved Hunter Shelton, Jennifer Self, and Jaylen Self; very special niece and nephew Ruth Ann Poteete and Josh Messer; father Frank Poteete; sister Kathy Jones; brother Mike Poteete (Donna); mother-in-law Roella Mathis; brothers and sisters-in-law R. L. Shelton (Rodetta), Danny Shelton (Dina), Darrell Shelton (Delores), Peggy Henderson (Randy), Margaret McMahan, and Janet Hartsell Shelton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Poteete, sister Joyce (Poteete) Ellison, maternal grandparents Bryan Rogers (Menella), paternal grandparents Roy Lawson (Lillie), brother-in-law George W. Shelton and father-in-law R. J. Shelton, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Murr and Rev. Dale Maloy officiating. Mrs. Shelton will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Shelton Cemetery (Stokely) in Del Rio.
