Mrs. Mary Edith Suggs, age 79, of Newport, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at her home.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ambrose and Rhoda Norton, brothers Earl, Eli, Claude, Carl, and Emory, sisters Edna Myers, Sue Clevenger, and Grace Shelton, and one great-grandchild Allana Norton.

She is survived by her husband Charles Suggs of Newport; children Donny and Terri Norton of Alva, FL; Linda and Jackie Swanger, Becky and Marvin Seay, and Patty Samples, all of Newport; grandchildren Chad Swanger of Raleigh, NC; Beth and Jamie Stiltner, Abby Swanger, and Jonathan Samples, all of Newport; Donald Norton and Rhoda Norton, both of Alva, FL; great-grandchildren Amirath and Trinity Norton, of Alva, FL; sister-in-law Vivian Kramer of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Swanger and Rev. Gary Norton officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at Union Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. interment.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
