Pearl Ellis Bowers, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN.

Although a lifetime resident of Newport, Tennessee, Mrs. Bowers had most recently lived at The Estates of Oak Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Bowers and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Bowers was a member of Lincoln Avenue  Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, attended the Willing Workers Sunday School class, and served on several committees.

In addition to church activities, Mrs. Bowers enjoyed cooking, sewing, and flower gardening.

She is survived by her sons Bobby Bowers and wife Ginny of Oak Ridge and Jerry Bowers and wife Theresa of Custer, MI; grandsons Stephen Bowers and wife Lisa of Oak Ridge; Scott Bowers and wife Marcy of Parma, MI; and Michael Bowers of Custer, MI; granddaughters Susan Bowers Williams and husband Troy and Sally Bowers Huston and husband Jamie of Oak Ridge and Kate Bowers of Waterford, MI. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel in Newport with Dr. Craig Ward officiating. The funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
